Preparation & Instructions
The empty container (rail) is cleaned of dust or debris accumulated during storage. The container is then filled to the top, with the explosive material. Care must be taken to eliminate air pockets, as this could greatly impair the performance, or stop propagation, within the container. A blasting cap of appropriate strength is inserted into the middle of the filler and secured in place. Standoff is fixed. Please note that these charges are now easily linkable. When linking, it is recommended to use adhesive tape on both sides of the container, making sure that the explosive material is in contact with the neighboring Linear Charge. Detonator may be placed on end or at various intervals to achieve different effects.
WARNING: Shape charges should always be prepared just prior to deployment and should never be stored for any length of time.
Advancement in Shape Charge Technology
Recently, new products have been developed employing shape charge technology. Flexible containers in rolled form and hydro-cut plastic forms are excellent products used by Law Enforcement personnel. These charges are preset and can be easily altered to accommodate special applications. Proparms has for some time manufactured the containers (rails) in three sizes: small, medium and large.
The new interlocking system allows the linking of the individual 6" sections without the necessity of adhesive tape (although it is still recommended). The mechanical interlocking system greatly facilitates and shortens the time required for preparation.
